Improving the Health of People with Mobility Limitations and Intellectual Disabilities through State-based Public Health Programs

The purpose of this announcement is to support a new new 5-year initiative to promote health and wellness across the lifespan, prevent chronic disease, create inclusive environments and systems supportive of healthy behaviors, and increase the quality of life among people with disabilities through implementation

of evidence-based and innovative strategies in states, U. S. territories, and tribal governments.

This FOA will provide funding to develop and strengthen internal capacity and health-related disability programs to (1) improve knowledge and awareness about the usefulness and effectiveness of health promotion programs and policy, systems and environmental changes for people with disabilities, and (2) support applicants to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate non-research activities aimed at promoting inclusion and accessibility, reducing health disparities, and improving the health of people with disabilities -- with a specific focus given to people with mobility limitations and intellectual disabilities.
