The U. S. Embassy Kyiv of the U. S. Department of State announces an open competition for U. S. organizations to submit applications for impactful, sustainable projects that will support the development of regional media outlets in Ukraine, including:
· more effective journalists committed to
adhering to western standards of accountability and fact-based reporting; and · media managers and management structures that allow outlets to optimize resources, monetize content, and grow content and reach.
Proposals may include, but should not be limited to, the following activities:
· Identifying specific regional media outlets in Ukraine that would most benefit from a partnership with media experts from the United States.
· Developing a mentorship program with selected regional media outlets such that lessons learned become ingrained into the organizational culture.
· Designing an internship/externship program, whereby current journalists working in regional media learn practical skills for developing well-researched news as well as newsroom management.
· Projects should create sustainable and lasting impact on the regional media outlets so that the benefits of the partnership can live beyond the project’s timeline.
· Activities may include, but are not limited to, co-researching and co-authoring investigative reports; collaborating on news stories; creating a strategic plan for editorial decision-making; and journalist swaps.
