Promoting Sustainable Business Initiatives while Conserving Biodiversity by Fighting Poverty in Paraguay:
The overall objective of this program is to contribute with the improvement of the economic and social wellbeing of families in and adjacent to significant importance
ecological areas in Paraguay (terrestrial or water) through a Global Development Alliance mechanism.
The recipient of this award will propose a method for assisting poor farmers and communities in areas of Paraguay through sustainable methods in order to obtain alternative sources of income to stop relying on slash-and-burn farming.
To reach this objective, applicants need to closely coordinate with local and national actors.
This is important because could influence the achievement of project goals.
Given that most important areas for conservation are surrounded by rural communities or extensive production, activities should be developed to periodically monitor the ecological health of the area and the robustness of economic development activities.
USAID/Paraguay intends to award up to two Cooperative Agreements pursuant to this RFA.
USAID reserves the right to fund or not the applications submitted.
