The purpose of the Enhanced Assessment Instruments Grant program, also called the Enhanced Assessment Grants (EAG) program, is to enhance the quality of assessment instruments and systems used by States for measuring the academic achievement of elementary and secondary school students.

In 2013, the Department will hold a competition for fiscal year (FY) 2012 EAG funds to support the development or enhancement of a kindergarten entry assessment (KEA) that is aligned with the State's early learning and development standards and that must cover all of the essential domains of school readiness.

We will give priority to early learning collaborative efforts among States (collaborative efforts) in developing this assessment.Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number:
