UCCS Professor Secures $75,000 State Grant for Medical Device Approval

Agency - Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade

Michael Larson, a UCCS mechanical and aerospace engineering professor at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, received a $75,000 state grant.


The grant will enable him to test a medical device he developed that uses a laser to integrate human tissue as an alternative to stitches in surgery. The test is a stepping stone to obtaining Food and Drug Administration approval to use the device on humans.
