Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Awards Grant to Six Schools

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has awarded a state grant to six area schools. The grant amounting to a total of $13.7 million will be used to support turnaround efforts in struggling schools.


Four schools in Lawrence have received the grant namely South Lawrence East Middle School, James F. Leonard School, Lawrence International High School and Business, Management & Finance High School. Connery Elementary School in Lynn as well as Salem’s Bentley Elementary have also been awarded the grant.
