Historic Windmill Gets $50,000 State Grant for Restoration

The state of Massachusetts has recently approved a $50,000 grant for the restoration of the historic Brimfield windmill. The funding comes from a grant program included in the 2013 fiscal account for Central and Western Massachusetts' projects.


Lighthouse in shape, the windmill has been originally built to haul water for household purposes and situated beside the 1819 John Wyles house on Route 20 in the town center. Suzanne Fusini-Collins, treasurer of Friends of the Brimfield Windmill, calls the circling vanes "a piece of history."
