Friends of the Cross Keeps $20,000 State Grant

Sothern Illinois’s Friends of the Cross group will keep the $20,000 state grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in Illinois. An atheist, Robert Sherman, contested the awarding of the grant for he believes that it violated the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause. However, the district court didn’t view it that way and dismissed the case for lack of standing.
