Riverside Receives No State Grant to Fund Train Station Repair

Last Jan. 30, Riverside officials learned that their grant application for nearly $1 million had been rejected by the Illinois Department of Transportation.


Riverside had asked for funding assistance through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), which secures grant funding for transportation-related projects. Village Manager Peter Scalera addresses that train station roof repairs are crucial, which are estimated at least $1 million. The problem is where to get that amount of funding.
